China’s State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) signed a contract to provide 2 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity to the 9th Asian Winter Games’ venues on February 7. The green electricity is sourced from SPIC Heilongjiang Company’s Gubei Wind Farm.
[pdf] The project will invest in the construction of a 100MW/500MWh vanadium liquid flow energy storage demonstration power plant. This project is a key support project for the construction of a world-class vanadium titanium industry base and an important national clean energy base.
[pdf] These modular units store excess solar heat in ceramic bricks at 1,500°C - four times cheaper than battery arrays for overnight power generation. A pilot project at Ouaga 2000 Industrial Zone achieved 94% efficiency in converting stored heat to electricity.
[pdf] Combining 450MW solar capacity with 1,200MWh battery storage, this hybrid system could power 300,000 homes during peak demand. Traditional solar plants face the "sunset problem" - energy production plummets when needed most.
[pdf] Recent pricing trends show 20ft containers (1-2MWh) starting at $350,000 and 40ft containers (3-6MWh) from $650,000, with volume discounts available for large orders.
[pdf] Phase 2 of the project includes the installation of a further 144 MW of storage capacity,equivalent to 616 MWh,at four Eskom distribution sites and one transmission site. The solar PV capacity in this phase will be 58 MW.
